It depends on the demographics of the target audience.

For example, for ticket brokers, for a given level of expenditure, on identical search terms, etc., Yahoo/Overture Impressions run 1 to 2 orders of magnitude greater than those of Google, the Click-thru-Rate is significantly lower, and the Conversion Rate significantly higher, with the result that the Cost/Conversion is substantially lower.

And, yes, even this is a generalization; the results vary according to the type of event, the venue, and the participants in the event, to name but the major factors.

So, it pays for each to do his own testing.
