Some of what you've left off is that PDF files are useful to have indexed, as are other non-.txt files.
The reason I see that you won't do a showdown is because it's only useful to do a showdown between those with market share, and that would exclude yours. According to you, the current products that have market share don't have anything good about them, yet people continue to download and install those products. They must have something decent about them or nobody would use them at all, which makes your entire post seem invalid.
Give us an objective review if you want it to have some credibility. Saying that most people don't need desktop search means nobody needs your program. If people have to use their PC in a certain way as you're suggesting, then I don't know anyone who will want your program. People will use their PC as they're already accustomed to, and learning to use it differently just so a search program works seems like the search program needs adjusting.
