Default How To Fight A Pirate

The Russian boxer looks severely, coldly, machine-like into his opponent's eyes and says, not unlike a combine would, "I must break you." This is not Ivan Drago, though, it's a software manager with a hard lesson for a pirate.

In February, Moscow-based Cognitive Technology's Andrei Smirnov crossed paths with a software pirate at a computer market. The dealer was selling his company's software without a license, according to the Moscow Times.

Incensed, Smirnov called for a stop to the illegal sale before trading blows with the pirate at the market. After a security guard broke up the fracas, the pirate invited Smirnov into the street to finish. Apparently not one to engage for long in ungentlemanly behavior, Smirnov suggested a nearby gym.

After three three-minute rounds, Smirnov was declared the winner, landing 24 punches to the software pirate's 16. The dealer's name was not disclosed.

When asked how he felt about his opponent's fate, Smirnov said with ice on his breath, "If he dies, he dies."*
