Maybe I do not understand the relevance of DMOZ in the whole search process on the Internet, specifically in relation to Googlizzle.
My very specific question is the importance of DMOZ as it relates to its own placement on Googlizzle.
Here was my test. I took everyone’s advice on the
http://66.102.9.104/ data center as this is the main (?) rollout for the "Mick and the Boys" Effect.
One of my terms is body jewelry. On the main Gogglizzle site I am 93 today but was 53 yesterday. Go figure! So I mosey, or maybe tango over to the 66.102 data center and say to myself, "self, try the top word for your industry and see where you rank."
I get to page two and there is dmoz.org/Shopping/Jewelry/Body/Piercing, ranked 24.
So I say again to myself, "self, step away from the weapon." (I like to keep myself honest.) "Self" I say, "DMOZizzles main focus is an optimized pages either by course or by the fact that the words on the page are tailored to the topic. And here is the title tag: <title>Open Directory - Shopping: Jewelry: Body: Piercing</title>. And further this page has only a PR4"
So I ponder. Do they help other pages and not themselves or themselves AND other pages (sites)?
After another Martini or 7, I might be able to figure an answer... But most assuredly not the right answer.
This is not bashing the green monster, just, I believe, coming to the realization that maybe, just maybe, it is not necessarily important to be part of them. Or, maybe it is as many of the top 23 are in fact on DMOZizlle. A correlation or just happen-stance?
Interesting! Suggestions and comments welcome.
Michael
PS, if you cannot dazzle them with brilliance, make 'em laugh!
