Thanks for all the recommendations. I didn't create the site so I'll try not to take the comments personally! Reading through your post a second time I can see that your suggestions are valid. I do have the problem that some of the things I simply don't know how to change but there are others that I will start with right away.
As I continue to learn I will focus on learning how to make some more of those suggestions.
