The first thing I have to say is this site is potentially "Not Safe For Work" ;)
From what I can tell, from my brief foray into the site, the functionality of the dating system looks pretty good so you should develop the other site using the same system.
One thing I would do, is restrict the width to 770 pixels as it's easier to control the content layout ;)
