I think the concept of art is abstract enough to say that it extends to computer graphics. My general idea of art is anything that you invest time and effort into creating with the end goal of being proud of it.
It might not be TRADITIONAL art, but I'm sure that traditional artists scoffed at the piece of metal stuck to the platform, which is now commonly accepted as being art (even by people who don't like rusty metal pieces stuck to platforms). It's a generation thing, I'm sure.
In the future, I'm sure some new form of canvas will emerge and current computer artists will make fun of it. :) Oh yes, it's something I LONG to do (and also to call young kids "whipper-snappers" - something I'm too young to do now).
