I've read this thread with interest, as I'm also new to the concept of AdWords. I'm keen though to begin promoting my site (an online shop), but as economically as possible.

I'd like to know what others think. Perhaps I'd be better off trying to create a campaign myself or to enlist the help - for a fee - of someone knowledgeable.

I recently ordered Brad Hill's "Building Your Business with Google: For Dummies". Some people have sworn by that book as well.
