SportsFan, maybe you could answer a couple of questions about PR Newswire?

I tried to check out their service, but the section on uploading press releases says that you have to become a member. Basically they want you to send them an email with your contact information and a good time to call, and they’ll call you back with pricing information. I also looked at the membership application and it’s four pages and they require credit references.

I was really looking for a service to issue this one press release. There’s always a chance I might need to do this again at some point in the future, but clearly I don’t issue many press releases, and PR Newswire looks like it might be a bit much for my needs. Does my impression match your experience with this company?

And if anyone else has suggestions for other companies, I’d love to hear them!
