I don't really see the need of having the skip navigation link viewable to visual browser users... It only scrolls down the page a tiny bit, and there really isn't much navigation to skip anyway. If you made it hidden with CSS the screenreaders and other alternative devices would still see it, but you wouldn't clutter up your design for the visual users.
