Squatter (or cyber squatter) gives illegal connotations. There's nothing wrong with buying and selling domain names unless the domain infringes on a registered trademark.

Sometimes it takes time for domain names to appreciate in value, much like stocks as jawn_tech suggests. Business.com first sold for something like $150,000. 5 years later it was $7 million.
