Don't forget it is the webmasters that are unhappy, not the DMOZ user (customer). DMOZ is building a directory for the user. I have never ever seen a DMOZ user complain.

That is frustrating - but we have been around this so may times before and everyone gets tired of it ... I guess responding here is taking editors away from editing .... but what a one way thread it would be if that did not happen.
