Just today, when checking on my escalating charges, I decided to check their billing against my web site traffic statistics. For four search terms that all took traffic to one page, they billed me for 400 clicks for September, but yet I showed only 45 hits total hits on that page as an entry page, and that is for ALL referral sources, not just Enhance-related search engines. On another search term I was billed for 194 clicks, but that page only had 39 customers entering on that page, and I could only identify 15 of those who had used a search engine to get there. Checking other search terms uncovered other similar discrepancies.
I have called Enhance to see what their explanation is, but until they return my call, I was wondering if anyone else has checked on this pay-per-click advertising in this way.
Update
Here's the latest on Enhance-gate:
Now I've left three messages with Enhance and no response, and I'm getting more antsy for answers. Meanwhile, I decided to pin down and quantify the overcharges. For the one site I advertise for most heavily on Enhance, I was billed for 1698 clicks for Sept. 1-20. However, during that time I only had 1060 visitors to that site! Furthermore, as I've checked my traffic statistics, giving Enhance the benefit of the doubt for every unknown referrer, I count a max of 163 referrals for Sept. 1-20 from possible Enhance-related search engines. That's a ten-fold overcharge.
Anyone else have any insight here or had a similar experience?
